Southmont Families,
We hope you have had a restful winter break and everyone in your household is safe and healthy. As we begin a new year, we look forward to the return of students and staff on Monday, January 4, 2021.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a report on December 16 concluding that children attending school are more likely to contract the virus from “family members – seen at weddings, parties, play dates and funerals, for example – and less likely to be school or child care classmates.” This confirms what we find in our schools. For more information, please visit: https://www.usnews.com/news/education-news/articles/2020-12-16/cdc-most-coronavirus-infections-in-kids-not-linked-to-school
As we plan for the return to school, we will continue the safety and mitigation practices of distancing, washing hands, and wearing masks as shared previously. We also need your help to keep our schools and classrooms open. We ask that families keep children at home if they exhibit the following symptoms:
• fever
• dry cough
• fatigue
• loss of appetite, smell, and/or taste
• body ache
If you have any questions regarding these symptoms, please contact the school nurse.
We wish all a happy and healthy new year, and we look forward to welcoming our students back very soon.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shawn Greiner
