Dear Southmont Schools families,
Last night the Board of Trustees reviewed the latest COVID data and our Return to In-Person Instruction Plan. After discussion, the decision was made to end our current temporary masking policy and return to our original mask-optional mitigation protocol beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
As a reminder, when a school building is at or above a 3% positivity rate in the 7-day rolling calendar day count masking may become required for 14 calendar days.
We will use the 7-day rolling count by calendar day divided by the school's total student enrollment to determine the percentage of students affected for the previous seven days.
If a school moves to a 14-day mask requirement, the 7-day rolling count will be assessed again on Day 12.
If this figure is below 3% on Day 12, the building returns to mask optional on Day 15.
If the figure is 3% or above, masks will continue to be required in the building for another 14-day cycle, beginning on Day 15.
Again, our current mask requirement will extend to all buildings through this Friday, Jan. 14. If you have any questions, please contact your building principal.
Dr. Shawn Greiner
Superintendent, Southmont Schools
